Juan Pablo Ledo & Burnise Silvius

Juan Pablo Ledo was invited once again by the South African Ballet Theatre for Romeo and Juliet’s production.

The South African Ballet Theatre never disappoints and their production of Romeo and Juliet was delicious. (…) Burnise Silvius (Juliet) was brilliantly partnered by guest artist Juan Pablo Ledo.

The SABT (South African Ballet Theatre) (…) managed to produce a world-class production (…) . The detailed extravaganza, with the vast sets and exquisite costumes, is overwhelming. A further treat is the live music by the SABT Synfonia under the baton of Timothy Roberts. They flawlessly perform the score by Sergei Prokoviev.

Bernise Silvius as Juliet is awe-inspiring. Her technical prowess is so secure that she effortlessly executes every movement with flair and charm. Her characterization is intensely convincing. Partnering Silvius as Romeo is Juan Pablo Ledo, guest artist from Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires. Ledo gives a sterling performance. His portrayal of Romeo is commanding and masculine.

Also returning to SABT is guest artist Juan Pablo Ledo who performed in The Nutcracker in 2010. This elegant Argentine is perfectly cast as Romeo and is sure to bring his trademark grandeur to the role.
